but have a nice day:)

I hold my hands up, I’ve only seen Liam Hemsworth in The Hunger Games and thought he was great. And gorgeous.

Although Henry is Geralt, there’s a slight chance Liam may turn out to be the better actor of the two and that intrigues me…

Also Joey Batey would have chemistry with a tent pole and that’s all that matters to me!

Y’all, the Archive admins are made up of VOLUNTEERS. And they have been working for 12-13 HOURS STRAIGHT.

I better not hear any complaints when donation period comes around. OR ELSE.

so theres a lot of posts going round about the titanic wreck and the missing submarines; all of them that ive seen have made very good points about how shoddy the submersible seemed to be and how the company decided to wait eight hours before reporting it, and how this is a play stupid games, win stupid prizes for the ultra-wealthy who paid like 250grand a ticket for this thing.

but what i havent seen any posts about is how the titanic wreck is a gravesite and this tourism is disturbing the graves of over 1500 people.

sometimes its kinda hard to remember that those on the titanic were real people; it was over a century ago, the story has been romanticised in so many ways (like the movie), theres conspiracies theories galore that cloud everything with misinformation, but at the end of the day, those who died were real people.

do you want their names? heres a list of them; its a long read. and for fun, heres another site where you can see photos of the children and babies who died aboard.

their bodies are long gone and their lives long forgotten. all we have to remember them and honour them is the wreck itself. its all we have of them and it is their gravesite. its their tombstone.

caitlin doughty/ask a morticians video on the great lakes discusses the topic well, and why we should leave these shipwrecks alone because again, they are the gravesites of all the souls who died aboard those ships. we rarely have bodies to recover so we really are left just with the wreck.

and what really upsets me about titanic tourism is how the majority of those who died that night were not the ultra-wealthy rich folks you might picture when you think of ocean liners.

  • 61% of the first class passengers survived
  • 42% of the second class passengers survived
  • 24% of the third class passengers survived
  • 24% of the crew survived **

the majority of those who died that night were regular folk; not to be cliche, but they were just like us. titanics wreck is not only a gravesite for over 1500 people, its also a majority working class gravesite.

and look at us now. look at what were doing. the ultra-wealthy can pay the equivalent of peanuts to them to disturb a mass gravesite of the exact kind of people they exploit today to hold onto all their wealth.

its easy to point and laugh at these dumb idiots in their playstation controller submarine, seemingly held together with super glue and duct tape, but its also important to remember that what they were doing was simply disturbing a gravesite for fun. though the company does research, these guys werent down there to conduct research, they were there so they could brag about it to their friends. its like “climbing mount everest” while your sherpa does all the work.

if you cant tell, i have a lot of feelings about this. shipwrecks and ocean liners are one of my special interests and im currently building a (beginner’s) model of the titanic, for fucks sake. but i would never go down to see that wreck because its a fucking gravesite and we should not be disturbing their final resting place.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE BRINGS UP THE LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA I GET SO ANGRY.

but why

Because it got burned. All of that knowledge, lost forever.

The library was destroyed over 1000’s of years ago. The library consisted of thousands of scrolls and books about mathematics, engineering, physiology, geography, blueprints, medicine, plays, & important scriptures. Thinkers from all over the Mediterranean used to come to Alexandria to study. Most of the major work of civilization up until that point was lost. If the library still survived till this day, society may have been more advanced and we would sure know more about the ancient world.

That graphic grinds my gears every time I see it

Please can you publish trustworthy links for donating to Syria so it helps reach the less supported people?

moonlayl:

There are 3 main ones I know of (I have family in Syria that are directly affected)

1. Molham

  • I’ve included a link to where people can donate and here is a link to their twitter page where they’re giving regular updates. Here’s a third link to donate in Euros
  • Molham, to those who don’t know, are specifically a non profit, non government team that have been providing relief for displaced & refugee Syrians. They’re now helping out with the Earth Quake.

2. The White Helmets

  • Currently searching  for survivors and pull ing the dead from collapsed buildings

3. Islamic Relief (this link should work for all countries donating)

  • Has for a very long time been extremely reliable. I usually donate through them and they tend to help out people all cross the world. They currently have a team in Syria, last I’ve heard.
  • here’s a link if you’re donating specifically in Canada, UK, America,

please PLEASE donate.

Even one dollar, one pound, can go a long way.

And if you can’t, PLEASE reblog!!

Syria needs help too! Syria matters too! They’re not receiving aid for a variety of political reasons and they desperately need it!!!

The Death Toll of the Earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria may have reached 20,000 people, and that’s outside of all those who are injured and lost.

If you could donate PLEASE do!!!

Here’s a post full of charities you could donate to, but I’ll add my own trustworthy ones here:

  • Islamic Relief:  teams are on the ground right now providing emergency food assistance, shelter, medical supplies to hospitals and clinics, as well as blankets and tents for those made homeless by the quake in Turkey and Syria
  • MolhamThe team at Molham are currently on the ground helping displaced families in Turkey and Syria who have been affected by the earthquake
  • Turkish Red Crescent: The team are distributing essential aid to those affected by the earthquake across Turkey.
  • The White Helmets: The team are on the ground in Northwest Syria searching for survivors and removing the dead from the rubble.
  • Turkey Mozaik Foundation: Attempting to provide immediate relief and medium to long term recovery to survivors of the earthquake.
  • MSF: remaining in close contact with the local authorities in northwestern Syria and with the authorities in Turkey to extend their support where it’s needed. They’re providing essential life kits to displaced people in the region
  • Turkey Emergency Earthquake Relief

please PLEASE reblog. Syria and Turkiye need our help!!!

THE PUSS IN BOOTS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING GOOD

hisirdouxcasperan:

A gifset from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Puss is standing in a sandy desert, while confetti falls around him. Suddenly, his hair stands on end.ALT
Puss stands with his arms out, on high alert. The confetti is still raining down, but in slow-motion. We see Puss's back.ALT
The camera spins around Puss and turns away from the confetti, to show what's behind him.ALT
Puss's looks afraid, as a figure in the distance is revealed, behind him. The colours go from warm oranges to dark blues, as the sides of the frame shift out of focus.ALT
Puss exhales, as the figure is revealed to be The Big Bad Wolf, red eyes just visible. He is standing underneath a rocky overhang, with plants behind him, which together make it look like he's standing in a skull. The edges of the shot are out of focus and refract into bright colours, placing further emphasis on Wolf.ALT
Puss pants as he stares, terrified. The confetti continues to rain down, slowly, but the background is now fully out of focus, shifted sideways and refracting into different colours, placing the full focus on Puss.ALT
The Big Bad Wolf silently draws his two sickles, as he stares straight ahead at Puss, cape slowly fluttering in the wind. The entire shot is blue and grey, save for the wolf's bright red eyes. The edges of the shot continue to refract.ALT
